Halbfigurenbildnis einer älteren würdevollen Dame im schwarzen Kleid, lasierende, partiell minimal pastose Malerei, Öl auf Leinwand und Keilrahmen, links oben signiert und undeutlich datiert ”Ph. Wolff-Arndt 1900”, reinigungsbedürftig und minimal restaurierungsbedürftig, ungerahmt, Maße 74,5 x 54 cm. Künstlerinfo: geborene Philippine Arndt, dt. Portrait-, Landschafts- und Stilllebenmalerin (1849 Frankfurt am Main bis um 1940 Paris?), Mutter der Frauenrechtlerin und Friedensaktivistin Constanze Hallgarten (1881–1969), 1872–77 Schülerin im Göbelschen Dameninstitut und von Heinrich Hasselhorst am Städelschen Institut Frankfurt am Main, 1877–78 weitergebildet in München, Rom (Kunstschule Circolo Chigi) und der Toskana, zunächst tätig in Frankfurt am Main und zeitweise in Kronberg im Taunus, ab 1880 mit ihrem Mann, dem Gewandhausmusiker Anton Heinrich Wolff in Leipzig, ab 1896 Mitglied und zeitweise Vorsitzende des Künstlerinnenvereins Leipzig sowie Mitglied im Verein für Frauenstimmrecht, 1913 Reise über Paris nach Spanien, ab 1919 in München, 1933 Emigration in die Schweiz und weiter nach Frankreich, hier zunächst in Versailles ansässig, später in Paris, Quelle: Thieme-Becker und Info Universität Leipzig.
