Deutsch: Vorderseite: ΦΑΙΣΤΙΟΝ. Der jugendliche, nackte Herakles sitzt vornübergebeugt auf dem Löwenfell auf felsigem Boden nach l. Er blickt nach vorne, in der L. hält er die Keule. Köcher und Bogen hängen l. an einem Baum, r. lehnt ein großes Gefäß (Amphora).
Rückseite: ΦΑΙΣΤΙ [retrograd]. Ein Stier steht mit gesenktem Kopf nach l. Kommentar: Der kretische Ort Phaistos ist nach dem mythischem König von Sikyon Phaistos, einem Sohn oder Enkel des Herakles, der auf den Münzen von Phaistos erscheint, benannt. Wie Pausanias 2,6,6-7 berichtet, verließ Phaistos auf Grund eines Orakelspruches Sikyon und wanderte nach Kreta aus, wo er die nach ihm benannte Stadt gründete. Nach einer anderen Version wurde die Stadt von Minos gegründet und lediglich von ihm nach dem mythischen Phaistos benannt. Literatur: Friedländer - von Sallet Nr. 162 (dieses Stück); J. N.
