Phaeocalicium polyporaeum (Nyl.) Tibell, 1979 (photograph of a pinhead-like fruiting body of Phaeocalicium polyporaeum growing on the bracket fungus, Trichaptum biforme; photographed through a dissecting microscope at x40 magnification) The Violet Toothed Polypore (Trichaptum biforme) was collected from a fallen dead oak at Liberty Reservoir, Carroll County, Maryland, USA; the Phaeocalicium polyporaeum was collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-68, 30 May 2001); identification was confirmed by Dr. Steven Selva at the University of Maine, Fort Kent. |
