Français : "Ce groupe allégorique commémore l'accession au trône de Louis XVI et Marie-Antoinette. Il a été modelé par le sculpteur Boizot à la fin de 1774, en anticipation de la cérémonie du couronnement qui devait se dérouler le 13 juin 1775. La Manufacture de Sèvres entendait prouver, quelques années après la réalisation du surtout du mariage, quelle restait par ses prouesses au service de l'exaltation des grands évènements de la monarchie qui la soutenait, mêlant habilement portraits royaux et symboles monarchiques. Le roi et la reine, ceints de la couronne royale et parés du manteau fleurdelysé, ne sont pas représentés en costume du sacre ni en costume à l'antique suivant la tradition mais "à la franque". Cette iconographie rare qui combine éléments contemporains - couronnes et manteaux - et propres à l'antiquité nationale s'inscrit dans un mouvement d'exaltation de l'ancienneté de la monarchie française, remontant aux figures mythiques et historiques de Pharamond et de Clovis, aux IVe et Ve siècles, alors que les peuples francs secouent le joug de l'Empire romain. Peut-être en raison de son caractère politique, ce groupe ne rencontra pas le succès escompté auprès de la clientèle de la manufacture, habituée à des productions plus aimables. Neuf exemplaires furent mis en fabrication, mais seuls deux furent vendus, achetés par le roi au cours de 1775, au prix de 480 livres. Un troisième avait semble-t-il été offert à Marie-Antoinette en février de la même année."[1]. Photographié dans l'Attique du Petit Trianon, dans la chambre du roi.
