Summary
[edit]DescriptionPeterborough North geograph-2461325-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Up coal train at Peterborough North. View northward from Platform 3, towards Grantham and the North; ex-GN ECML. A long coal train for Barford Power Station near St Neots is pulling away from the New England Yards past the North Box along the Up Main line - rather than being crossed over to the Up Slow lines - Peterbrough North being a dreadful bottleneck before it was completely rebuilt and enlarged in 1973. The locomotive is 2-8-0 No. 63717, a Class O4/8 which was a rather less drastic Thompson rebuild (3/58) of an ex-GC Class O4 than his Class O1, the O4/8 retaining the original cylinders and motion. |
