A Burmese laung-zat, c. 1912

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Caption: Burmese laung-zāt, (without rigging); a caravel-built vessel on the same lines as the dug-out laung-gô for river use. The larger type, in general use on the Chindwin River, shows Chinese influence, although the lines are those of ancient Egypt. This type displays the stern-cabins differently arranged from those in the higher-built Chinese junk. See also Chatterton, Sailing Ships, 7, 31.
