Français : Pendentifs magiques romains circulaires ou phalliques conservés au Musée gallo-romain de Fourvière, à Lyon, en France.
N°4 : deux amulettes en bois de cerf découvertes à La Dent, Meyzieu (dans le 69). Elles sont percées d'un trou pour les suspendre autour du cou. Le bois de cerf était un symbole de force et de régénération dans la culture romaine. N°5 : trois pendentifs phalliques (fascinum) faits dans un alliage de cuivre. Découverts lors d'une fouille du quai Arloing à Lyon (dans le 9e arrondissement) et de fouilles villa Montel, 41-43 rue du Bourbonnais. Ils proviennent d'une nécropole du Ier siècle apr. J.-C. Le phallus symbolise la propagation de la vie et la fécondité; il protège aussi contre le mauvais sort. Les représentations de phallus étaient fréquentes dans la culture romaine. On en trouve aussi dans d'autres civilisations (précolombiennes, indienne thaïlandaise). |
