Description

(Imóvel de Interesse Público: Decreto n.º 23.122 de 11 de Outubro de 1933)

Símbolo do municipalismo português, o Pelourinho terá sido edificado na actual vila de Sesimbra no século XVI, sendo destruído em inícios do século XX. No ano de 1988, o município promoveu a edificação de uma réplica em pedra no local do original.

Emerge a estrutura de pedra calcária a partir de um pódium de três degraus quadrados, com uma base redonda a que se sucede um longo e esguio fuste circular, terminando o seu topo num capitel quadrangular encimado por um esporão cúbico.
