Description
The experts at Bruun Rasmussen described this painting as Portræt af ung soldat (Portrait of a young soldier). They might be right, but the uploader tends to disagree. The sailor suit does not look like something a young Danish naval conscript would wear in 1929 - or anytime else - and the word Yacht (plus something unreadable) on the sleeve underpins this. The suit looks much more like something worn by a young member of a yachtclub - Perhaps the Royal Danish Yachtclub (KDY) of Copenhagen - and that would go a long way explaining how this young man came to be portrayed by a well established painter like Peder Mønsted.
