| Description |
English: Founder's share of the Company of Proprietors of Peak Forest Canal, issued 8 October 1794. The Peak Forest Canal Act of 28 March 1794 authorised an investment sum of £90,000 with an additional reserve of £60,000. Although the peak of "canal mania" had already passed, shares were subscribed for in public subscriptions for £117,140, and a further £80,600 was raised through promissory notes and loans. |
