Summary
[edit]DescriptionPeacock Butterfly (Inachis io) - geograph.org.uk - 516987.jpg |
English: Peacock Butterfly (Inachis io) The Peacock is considered by many lepidopterists to be the most beautiful butterfly in the world. Its hindwings mimic the eyes of a small animal, and must appear very threatening to potential enemies. From early spring onwards until September, when they go into hibernation, they can be found in woodland glades and along riverbanks, in disused railway cuttings, old quarries and on farmland. |
