Summary
[edit]DescriptionPdx-sfo-sba 100 (200536688).jpg | KGO's three towers stand in algae-green salt evaporation ponds beside the causeway to the Dumbarton Bridge. Salt water has the highest ground conductivity on Earth, and the extra-high concentrations under KGO's towers give it perhaps the best ground system in AM broadcasting. Its 50,000-watt signal has a figure-eight pattern pointing up the bay toward San Francisco and down the bay toward San Jose. But the head start the signal gets by travelling across the world's most conductive ground in part accounts for the station's city-grade coverage from Chico to Big Sur. Bonus link. |
