we thought we had made a major discovery with paulo mendes da rocha, but let's just say the pritzker prize jury beat us to it. he is the real thing, though, nothing like an architect who stays true to himself without repeating himself. the sculpture museum, museu brasileiro da escultura, or MUBE (1988), in which the building takes up the entire plot and becomes its own landscape, context, and view is one long tribute to lina bo bardi. can this man do nothing wrong? more words, yada, yada, yada. |
