Description
English: Part of a copper alloy D-shaped buckle frame of a Hawkes and Dunning type 1b. The outer edge of the frame is in the form of a horse's head, highly decorated with punched and dotted pattern and 'C' shapes. This buckle only has one of the usual two horses which face externally. The reverse of the buckle is flat and undecorated. Such buckles date from the fourth to early fifth century in date and is thus late Roman or early Early-medieval.
