Description
English: The Parkview Garden Apartments, 227 Parkside Avenue at Jewett Parkway, Buffalo, New York, February 2022. This four-story, 48-unit apartment building overlooking Delaware Park appears to have been built c. 1942, likely just before wartime construction supplies rationing went into effect. Constructed of cinderblocks faced with buff brick, the design is typical of its era not only in terms of building's classic U-shaped footprint but also its architecture: with its minimalist ornamentation, preponderance of right angles, horizontal orientation, and ribbons of windows on the façade, it bridges the gap between Streamline Moderne and full-fledged Modernism.
