Description

Odéon / Rue de Vaugirard The Luxembourg Palace was originally built to be the royal residence of the regent Marie de' Medici, mother of Louis XIII of France. Arch. Salomon de Brosse 1615-45 After the Revolution it was refashioned into a legislative building. Arch. Jean Chalgrin 1799–1805 and subsequently greatly enlarged and remodeled. Arch. Alphonse de Gisors 1835-56

Since 1958, it has been the seat of the French Senate of the Fifth Republic.
