DescriptionParhelio en Santiago de Compostela. Sun Dog in Compostela.jpg |
Español: Parhelio en Santiago de Compostela.
English: Sun Dog in Compostela. – "A sun dog, also known as parhelion, is an atmospheric optical phenomenona consisting on a bright spot of light that sometimes appears on either side of the sun at the same distance above the horizon as the sun, and is separated from the sun by an angle of 22°. The effect result from the refraction by sunlight by six-sided ice crystals in the atmosphere. On some occasions the entire spectrum of colors can be spread out in the sun-dog spot but, commonly, the red edge is followed by an orange or yellow band that merges into a diffuse white region." |
