English: Orchids are synonymous with Singapore. Our national flower Papilionanthe (Vanda) Miss Joaquim ‘Agnes’ is, in fact, one of the oldest and most famous orchid hybrids in the world. Since its introduction in 1893, the cultivation and hybridisation of orchids has become part of a celebration of our nation’s intangible cultural heritage. Papilionanthe (Vanda) Miss Joaquim 'Douglas' is a sibling of Papilionanthe (Vanda) Miss Joaquim 'Agnes', with larger blooms and a distinct speckled lip, and of the same parents. |
