Palmyra Temple of Bel cella south adyton

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: An adyton is a Semitic concept, a niche with the image of the god. The south one has a ceiling of one single stone with a central fleuron surrounded by a meander band and border rosettes. It seems to have influenced the 18th century classical revival (source The monuments of Syria).
