Summary
[edit]DescriptionPale chinned blue flycatcher facts 01.jpg |
English: The pale-chinned blue flycatcher, also known as Brook's flycatcher, is a member of the Muscicapidae family, characterized by its sparrow-sized stature. While its name suggests a blue hue, the male displays a bluish-grey upper body, complemented by a rufous throat and white underparts.
In a curious twist, this flycatcher presents a brown plumage overall, with a distinct white throat, gray face, and subtle orange tinge on the breast. Its pale eye-ring adds to its appearance, lending it an illusion of larger eyes. Distinguishing features from other female blue flycatchers include the absence of pale coloration on the lores, a gray facial profile instead of brown, and a relatively elongated bill. The pale-chinned blue flycatcher thrives in lowland and foothill broadleaf forests, where it fills the air with its rapid-fire blast of high notes during its song. A recent and captivating sighting of this avian beauty was photographed at the Buxa Tiger Reserve & National Park in West Bengal, India. |
