Description

Le palazzo degli Uffici Ce bâtiment inauguré en 1939 a été conçu par l'Architecte : Gaetano Minucci Il devait être l'immeuble de la direction de l'Exposition universelle et le point de vente de la billetterie. Sur sa façade figure une phrase de Mussolini évoquant la troisième Rome et son extension jusqu'à la mer.

La sculpture au fond du jardin est de Fausto Melotti, elle représente un jeune homme nu mais elle faisait initialement partie d'un groupe de sculptures d'un autre bâtiment.

La création du nouveau quartier de Rome, appelé EUR : Esposizione Universale di Roma, a été décidée en 1936 par Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) pour célébrer le 20ème anniversaire de la marche sur Rome par une Exposition Universelle qui devait se tenir en 1942. Quelques bâtiments ont été construits mais les travaux d'aménagement et de construction ont été stoppés par la guerre.

Les architectes chargés du projet étaient : Marcello Piacentini entouré de Giuseppe Pagano, Luigi Piccinato, Ettore Rossi, Luigi Vietti.

Les travaux ont repris en 1951 avec l'ambition de faire de l'EUR un quartier d'affaires associé à une zone urbaine d'habitation reliée par le métro à Rome et par le train à Ostie.
