Description

Paeonia 'Old Rose Dandy' 5/2021 Itoh- (Chris Laning, 1993) (3-SL-R) Itoh intersectional Peony, Mature size: 32", Medium height, single, Brick Red petals, dark red flares, yellow ring of stamens, white sheath, yellow stigmas, early midseason bloomer , USDA Hardiness Zone 3-8, Michigan Bloom Month 5-6, In Garden Bed G3,2 for 7.6 YEARS (Swenson). Planted in 2013.

A lutea hybrid. P. lutea x purple double flower suffruticosa seedling. Dark green leaves. Flowers are an old rose color. Award of Merit 1993. Bloomed in second year after planting.

It's on the short side of medium height. I really like to color. It's surrounded by some taller lactiflora cultivars that make it look small. In addition, we have had a wet spring here in SE Michigan (2020). The extra rain seems to cause the lactifloras to grow taller while it does not seem to affect the height of Itoh Hybrids.
