Clark McCarthy A Joint Venture and the Replacement Naval Hospital Teams Prepped Care Packages For Troops Overseas

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Costco gift cards, beef jerky, Cliff Bars, baby wipes, Christmas cards, magazines, socks, shirts, and many other assortments were packed for the annual Troop Appreciation Day held by the Navy/Contractor hospital project teams Dec. 7 at the Pacific Views Restaurant aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton for various military units stationed overseas.

“A few years ago we started thinking about the different ways to celebrate our Christmas company holiday party and instead of making it about us we started thinking about why don’t we make it about somebody else and an opportunity to give back, said Carlos Gonzalez, P.E., Project Director Clark/McCarthy, A Joint Venture (CMJV). “And we quickly came to think about the troops who are away from home who left their families, their loved ones behind and are sacrificing themselves and it gave us a great sense of a responsibility to have an opportunity to give back to them. So the last few years we came together and we celebrate our Christmas party by putting a token our appreciation and sending it to the men and women who are fighting abroad who are not here with us, but it is because of them that we enjoy our freedom and we appreciate them all for it.”

Donations from local businesses and the Replacement Naval Hospital Project teams collected perishables the last few months to make more than 150 care packages for the troops for their holiday season.

“The efforts that Clark/McCarthy is doing to support our troops overseas has been remarkable, said Cmdr. Whit Robinson, Resident Officer In Charge of Construction for the Naval Hospital Project. “The amount of detail and the number of enthusiastic volunteers either collect or pack the gifts in boxes to send overseas is outstanding and we truly hope the overseas service members enjoy a little love from home.”
