he Carson GloveCompany at San Rafaelcame to this city after theplant was destroyed in theSan Francisco earthquakeand fire of 1906. The hides for makinginto gloves are securedfrom the Western States.The principal hide used ishorse hide. The hides,after being received, aresoftened and dyed the de-sired color and then cutand sewed into gloves andothet leather products.There are approximately35 workers at the plant and the daily output is approximately 30dozen gloves. The principal line producedby the factory is workmens gloves. Thevalue of the annual product is $30,000. The principal application of power at theplant is for driving cutters and sewingmachines. The California Glove Company, Napa.The California Glove Company at Napa,another typical leather goods factory,secures most of its materials from theBalkan States, Africa, Siberia, Turkey,Arabia and Russia. The finished product isdistributed in all of the Western States andalso China and Japan. About 288,000 pairs of gloves are turned

The RexSpray Company was established in Beniciain 1898 and its products of spray mixturesare used over all the Pacific Coast. Spraymaterial for insecticides and fungicides,household and agricultural purposes is man-ufactured. The raw products, oil and sulphur areshipped from the east and from the variousoil fields in the State of California. Rex Spray is the celebrated home of fly-tox which is being widely used as a house-hold disinfectant. Electric power is used extensively in theplant for driving pumps and mixing thevarious ingredients employed in the manu-facture of the spray. Mare Island Navy Yard and the BeniciaArsenal.
