Celle-ci, travestie en chevalier, se met à la recherche de son bien-aimé disparu. Elle est sur la bonne tracé mais le magicien Atlant tâche de l'arrêter par des obstacles et des pièges; cependant, grâce à la bague magique dont la bonne fée Mélisse lui a fait présent, elle peut libérer Roger et les autres prisonniers. L'imprudent Roger s'assied sur l'Hippogriffe et celui-ci l'emporte une seconde fois, s'envolant vers l'ile enchantée de la sorcière Alcine. En atterissant, Roger veut attacher l'Hippogriffe à un arbre de myrrhe et celui-ci se révèle à lui comme étant Astolphe (autre grand héros chrétien) qu'un sort a momentanément changé en myrrhe. Roger veut fuir, mais deux jeunes filles l'aveuglent ét le conduisent'au château d'Alcine où il subit l'incantation. Il oublie Bradamante, l'honneur et ses devoirs de chevalier. Et s'adonne aux plaisirs, comme nous le voyons sur notre image. Heureusement, la bonne fée Mélisse intervient avec sa bague magique, dessille les yeux illusiannés de Roger et celui-ci s'aperçoit qu'Alcine n'est qu'une méchante vieille sorcière. Roger, pris de honte. s'enfuit.; |
