Description This Hawaiian longfin anthias (Pseudanthias hawaiiensis) was photographed at Pearl and Hermes Atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Protected by the 140,000-square-mile Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, the vibrant coral reefs of this remote part of the Hawaiian Archipelago are home to more than 7,000 marine species, one-quarter of which are endemic — that is, found nowhere else on Earth.
