| Description |
English: New Orleans, May 2015. Statue of P.G.T. Beauregard depicted in Confederate uniform on horseback, statue by Alexander Doyle erected 1915. One of 4 monuments to Confederate leaders &/or White Supremacy that the New Orleans City Council had authorized to be removed from prominent public spots. The statue was in a small traffic circle called Beauregard Circle at the foot of Esplanade Avenue at one of the entrances to City Park at the intersection of Carrollton and Wisner Boulevard beside Bayou St. John.
A protester with a Confederate flag stands vigil by the statue, with other flags planted around. The statue was removed on the night of 16 May / early morning 17 May 2017, to be put in storage pending finalization of plans to put it in a museum, sculpture park, or similar facility with historic context.
