English: 1st Lt. James B. Baliuyan, a veterinarian for the 773rd Canine Wing Veterinarian Squadron of the Philippine Air Force, discusses canine training and first aid with local media stations here during Balikatan 2012. The interview with Baliuyan was just one of the many interviews the media conducted during the day. They were shown various aircraft along with a canine, military police and fire and rescue demonstrations. This year’s Media Day gave local media an opportunity to come onto the base and speak to U.S. and Philippines service members about their bilateral training during Balikatan 2012. When the exercise is over, knowledge learned from both sides will be retaught to the rest of the personnel. The friendship and camaraderie the U.S. and the Philippines are building during Balikatan helps both sides unite and react quickly and efficiently in the event a crisis or natural disaster. |
