LANDSAT5 Satellite View of Bicas,Minas Gerais,Brazil in 1993-06-24 (RGB=bands 5,4,3), with 30m resolution per pixel with no special filters applied.

In this composite, the dense vegetation is green, strongly contrasting with the deforested areas and grass, in red. The city of Bicas shows up as a big purple spot in the centre of the image. There are interesting winding green lines all over the photo. It is not difficult to visualize the road BR-267, as a thin winding dark line to the west of the city taking to the city of Juiz de Fora, and also a thin winding dark line to the north of Bicas which is the road taking to the city of Rochedo de Minas. The areas in purple hues (which are not highlighted in this composition) correspond predominantly to human artifacts (buildings, houses, roads) and naked land areas. The strong big bright purple spot in the middle of Bicas most probably corresponds to the top of the "Alto das Brisas" hill, where there is a large proportion of naked land. Other light purple spots are probably other sites of mineral extraction with large amounts of naked land. This picture covers roughly 14400m west-east and 10800m north-south. The centre of the picture is located around Latitude 21S43'20 / Longitude 43W03'30.
