| Description |
English: Up Special passing through Oxford, with a 'Castle' 4-6-0. It's a very wet day. No regular passenger trains passed Oxford without stopping, but this Special did. The locomotive is ex-GW Collett 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 5070 'Sir Daniel Gooch' (named after the original Superintendent of Locomotive Engines, later Chairman, of the Great Western Railway), built 6/38, withdrawn 3/64. The view is northward past Oxford North Box, towards Banbury and Birmingham, also Worcester. |
