Oxfam and local Somali partners are also helping people inside Somalia. Hawo and her six children have taken shelter at Lafole camp, where Oxfam partner SAACID is providing life-saving clean water for thousands of families in the area: "The problem that we are facing now," she says, "is that there are many new people arriving in the camp, and in neighbouring camps. This is beginning to increase the demand, so that the water queues are becoming longer now. The water benefits us in different ways - we use the water to cook, wash, drink, and bathe, because the water is clean. In addition, I give water to my domestic animals, such as goats and poultry.” |
