Nederlands: Omschrijving: overstromingen. Dijkdoorbraken. Binnendringend water langs de Domeinendijk tijdens de overstroming bij Amersfoort, gadegeslagen door enkele dijkmeesters, Nederland, begin december 1917. Dit is de plek waar het water het eerst binnendrong. Serie van 15 foto's. “Een nieuwe Watersnood, de overstroomingen bij Amersfoort. Met 15, meerendeels eigen foto’s.” De oorzaak was overigens net als in 1916 een storm (eind november 1917) waarbij dit keer het water van de Zuiderzee de streek ten noorden van Amersfoort blank zette (de januari-storm van 1916 trof vooral de streek benoorden Baarn). Hoewel de Elburger- en de Zomerzeedijk het hielden, was de kracht van de wind dusdanig dat het zeewater over de dijkbruggen van de Dronthensche overlaat werd heengejaagd. De reporter van het tijdschrift Het Leven was uitgenodigd om met de ingenieurs van de Staats Spoorwegen de schade aan de lijn Amersfoort-Zwolle te bekijken met een hulptrein. |
