HEROES OF THE GRIDIRON 139 Weekes was the man who made- thetouchdown that defeated Yale in hisfirst year of play at Columbia and Mor-ley was one of the hardest of playersand headiest of captains. Harold Weekes was unquestionably,in his day, the best end runner in thecountry. It was not alone that he hadsuch phenomenal speed, nor that he hadthe weight and muscular strength thattold, but it was the combination of thesewith good judgment and the ability toput on speed at the right moment.
