This is not a Bentley R-Type. It is a Bentley Mark VI. The relatively large single centrally mounted fog light at the front is a bit of a clue. (Otherwise, the principal difference is the size of the luggage compartment at the back, which of course is not visible in this picture.) According to the UK car tax database this car was first registered in March 1951 and its engine capacity is 4257cc. The UK car tax database is not 100% infallible, especially concerning older cars. In this case it nevertheless provides powerful corroboration that this is not a Bentley R-Type, but a Bentley Mark VI. The Mark VI was built from 1946-1952, though the 4257cc engine was fitted only till the middle of 1951. The R-Type was built between 1952 and 1955.
