Orthodera novaezealandiae (New Zealand praying mantis) nymph with a blue-bottle blowfly (Calliphora species). Taken in Hoon Hay Christchurch.

"Note the blue coloration on the underside of the mantid's forelegs---this is a characteristic separating the native New Zealand species from the South African species, Miomantis caffra, that established in New Zealand in the 1970s."
