Orofino-Greer Highway, Orofino, Ida. Date: Circa 1930s Source Type: Postcard Publisher, Printer, Photographer: AZO Postmark: None Collection: Steven R. Shook Remark: It is believed that this postcard photograph is showing the community of Greer rather than Orofino. The grain elevator still present in Greer appears visible in the distance. The roadbed on the right side of the postcard is present day U.S. Route 12. The roadbed barely visible on the left side of the postcard is likely Greer Grade Road, which heads up the canyon to the small communities of Fraser and Weippe. The North Fork of the Clearwater River is the river in this image. The Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-1806 closely followed the river as it traveled through this region. Copyright 2017.
