Summary
[edit]DescriptionOn track for restoration (8053792559).jpg | Pocahontas County, West Virginia, October 1, 2012.: An original Shay engine #5 transport culverts to a fish passage project in a roadless area on Oats Run in Spruce, WV. Oats Run is a headwater tributary of Shavers Fork that has native Eastern brook trout. The culverts are part of a large-scale restoration project to improve fish passage. Cass Scenic Railroad is a partner in the project funded by the Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture. The engine was once used to haul timber from Spruce, once a bustling town, but now abandoned. Cass Scenic Railroad will haul all materials and heavy equipment via the rail line. Credit: Keith McGilvray/USFWS. |
