Summary
[edit]DescriptionOn the Vale of Glamorgan Line coal for Aberthawe - geograph.org.uk - 1911663.jpg |
English: On the Vale of Glamorgan Line coal for Aberthawe, near to St Athan, The Vale of Glamorgan/Bro Morgannwg, Great Britain.
Coal loaded from Steel Supply at Neath heads towards Aberthawe power station passing one of the hangers at RAF St Athan. At this time the Vale of Glamorgan line was freight only and only used as a passenger diversion route in emergencies or when planned engineering work blocked the main line between Cardiff and Bridgend. Now the local passenger service has been reintroduced and coal services are far fewer then they were in those days when Barry Depot worked these services out and back. |
