Art was an olympic matter of judgment between the years 1912-1948. The art competitions were grouped into five broad categories: architechture, painting, literature, music and sculpture. The artist himself did not even need to be at the place - only the work of art. Sweden has two Olympic gold medalists in art. The artist David Wallin (1876-1957) won the gold medal in Los Angeles in 1932 with his painting "At the Seaside of Arild" and the sculptor Gustav Nordahl (1903-1992) won gold medal in London in 1948 with his statue "Hommage to Ling".
