Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld stone workings at Hart's Barn - geograph.org.uk - 673024.jpg |
English: Old stone workings at Hart's Barn Just off Belvoir Road between Granby Wood and Bunkers Wood there is an old disused ironstone quarry stretching along a level spit of land amongst the steep hills and valleys near Knipton and Branston. The majority of older buildings in the area are built of this soft yellow stone and in recent years the local council has encouraged new builds in villages to be constructed of the same material. It has to be sourced either from demolished barns or from working quarries further afield these days. |
