Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld cable works, Lower Lydbrook (geograph 3853764).jpg |
English: Old cable works, Lower Lydbrook Taken from the site of Lydbrook Junction station, which was at the junction of the Severn and Wye line to Sharpness and the Great Western line to Monmouth. The remains of the old platform edge are just visible in the left foreground. The buildings in the background are the old Edison Swan cable works. These are no longer used other than by local police forces, who use it for riot control training: there's some footage somewhere on YouTube of riot police knocking seven bells out of a magnificent art deco oak staircase with truncheons, which I think is a shame. |
