English: Old Red Sandstone near Cray Reservoir in Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, UK. These hillsides are littered with blocks of the local rock - this is one of the more spectacular showing cross-bedding within these water-lain sandstones from the Devonian period. Some of it is packed with quartz pebbles, having originated from a large mountain range somewhere to the north. |
