Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld Quarry - geograph.org.uk - 111430.jpg |
English: Old Quarry. When I was growing up, all of this was the open cast mining. It's changed a bit now.
The only thing that Wyrley is famous for is the George Edalji case, wherein he was accused of horse mutilation and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle visited in an attempt to clear his name. Just the other side of the trees seen here was where the footprint, the main piece of physical evidence against Edalji, was collected. Currently, there's a fight by local residents against a building company, who have so far submitted three proposals to build on this land. Each time they have been defeated. |
