Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld Mine Workings on the Tamar - geograph.org.uk - 150355.jpg |
English: Old Mine Workings on the Tamar The long disappeared village of Newquay was on the banks of the Tamar just beyond this point. This is the end of the train journey where the little train (yellow side just visible) that takes visitors into the disused copper mine terminates.
The crooked chimney in the distance was part of the old Arsenic smelting works where mined Arsenopyrites (or mispickel) was converted into the deadly Arsenic Trioxide for use as a poison for numerous purposes. |
