Im 6. Jahrhundert wurde Tiflis zur Hauptstadt Georgiens erklärt. Zu dieser Zeit war die Stadt von einer befestigten Mauer umkreist. Die Ruinen der Mauer befinden sich immer noch in den Straßen von Tiflis.

Die alte Mauer erstreckte sich entlang der heutigen Baratashvili Avenue, st. Puschkin, durch den Freiheitsplatz, Dadiani Straße bis zur Narikala Festung . Die Mauer wurde gebaut, um die Stadt vor einer Invasion zu schützen.

In the 6th century, Tbilisi was proclaimed as the capital of Georgia. At that time, the city was surrounded by a fortified wall. The ruins of the wall can still be found on Tbilisi streets.

The ancient wall stretched along the current Baratashvili Avenue, st. Pushkin, through Freedom Square, Dadiani street and raised to Narikala fortress. The wall was built to protect the city against invasion.
