| Description |
English: Old Hedgerow Oak, Moneybury Hill The sideways low level branches and multiple trunks suggest that when it was young it formed part of a hedgerow (now gone) and that some of the initial shoots were layered (i.e. laid horizontally in the hedge). It is close to the path from the Monument to Ivinghoe Beacon, shortly after the wooden bridge.
Latter addition: The tree is one of the trees in the "Special Trees and Woods" project and know as the Candelabra Tree http://www.chilternsaonb.org/caring/stwp_site_details.asp?siteID=540&frommap=true. |
