English: Performers dance to the Akauma Bushi November 29 at the performing arts auditorium on Camp Foster, during an Okinawa dance and culture performance. The Akauma Bushi is traditionally performed on the Yaeyama Islands for royalty at the beginning of banquets and concerts, according to an informational pamphlet handed out at the performance. The performers danced to traditional live music by musicians using cultural instruments such as the Koto, a stringed instrument, and a Shakuhachi, a vertical bamboo flute. The performance educated service members and their families on the different styles of traditional Okinawa music, clothing and dancing. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Brittany A.
