English: Members of the Okinawa Area Coordinating Committee discuss the Drunk and Distracted Driving campaign proclamation Oct. 15 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The campaign aims to combat the number of drunk and drugged driving-related incidents island wide. This annual campaign focuses efforts on educating both U.S. and Okinawan communities regarding factors that lead to drunk and drugged driving, while its overall goal remains to reduce the number of incidents. “It’s critically important that each and every day we be good citizens of this island and good representatives of our nation.” Other members of the OACC signing were Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Joaquin F. Malavet, commanding general, Marine Corps Installations Pacific; Air Force Brig. Gen. Barry Cornish, commanding general, 18th Wing; Navy Capt. Michael D. Michel, commanding officer, Fleet Activities Okinawa; and Army Lt. Col. Charles G. Novotny, commander, 835th U.S. Army Transportation Battalion. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
