Description
Deutsch: Berge unterschiedlicher geologischer Beschaffenheit und unterschiedlichen Alters im Grenzbereich der Kunene- und Erongo-Regionen in Namibia: Im Dunst im Hintergrund der Okenyenya, eine komplexe frühkreidezeitliche basische Intrusion, im Vordergrund Tafelberge als Zeugenberge der tertiärzeitlichen sedimentären „Ugab main terrace“. Die zwischen dem Okenyenya und den Tafelbergen liegende Erhebung ist ein verwitterungs- und erosionsresistentes Schichtpaket im Scharnierbereich einer Großfalte des jungpräkambrischen metamorphen Grundgebirges (Damara-Sequenz).
English: Elevations of different geological origin and age in the borderland of the Kunene and Erongo regions, Namibia: In the mist in the background the Okenyenya mountain, a composite Early Cretaceous basic intrusion, and in the foreground „residual mesas“, i.e. outliers of the Tertiary sedimentary Ugab main terrace. The elevation which is visible between the mesas and the Okenyenya mountain is a resistant rock layer in the hinge region of a large fold in the late Precambrian metamorphic basement (Damara Sequence).
