Summary
[edit]DescriptionOats cover crop.jpg |
English: Oats (Avena sativa) as a cover crop following maize (May 2004, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa). Oat seed was broadcast under the maize canopy (undersown) in February or March. After the maize harvest in June, maize residues together with the oats are used as winter fodder for livestock. In spring (August-September), the grass is allowed to grow without further grazing, then killed with herbicide before the following crop (maize or soyabean) is planted using a no-till planter. |
